Simmons & Simmons has hired a new head of its Middle East banking and finance practice, appointing former Freshfields senior counsel Eric Milne as a partner in the Dubai office. Milne previously helped to launch Freshfields' Dubai office in 2005. Prior to that had worked in the magic circle firm's London banking team since 1996. Simmons said the hire was part of a strategy to build up its finance practice in the Middle East and North Africa in both conventional and Islamic finance.
