Eversheds UK managing partner Bryan Hughes has been formally appointed as the firm's next chief executive. Hughes will replace David Gray in the role after standing uncontested. The appointment was announced internally yesterday (10 September), and will see Hughes step up to lead the firm in May 2009 for a four-year term.Gray, who will have held the role for six years when he steps down next April, announced last month (15 August) that he was standing down to spend more time with his family. Hughes, who has been part of Eversheds' management team for eight years, and a member of its executive for five years, looks set to continue Gray's legacy, citing expanding in London and internationally as key strategic priorities. The firm is considering a number of further international office launches and in the UK it is open to a London merger.
