The National Law JournalIn the first nine months of 2007, a record 10 GCs were charged with or pleaded to civil or criminal fraud in federal courts. The SEC is pursuing actions not only against GCs who allegedly participated in fraudulent schemes, but also against those who filed misleading financial documents. Some complain the current crackdown is damaging the relationship between corporate counsel and the executives they serve.
