National giant Eversheds is being sued for £20m by Nationwide in one of the largest negligence claims brought against a top UK firm in recent times.

The action was filed by the UK building society in the High Court earlier this month (7 September). It claims that Eversheds provided negligent advice on an allegedly fraudulent property deal in which Nationwide offered a £14.25m loan to Mr Saleem Arshid and his company SA Estates, secured on a Welsh building in Carmarthen worth less then £1m.
