Squire Sanders & Dempsey this month underlined its real estate expertise by dispatching its lawyers on a mercy mission to Poland for housing charity Habitat for Humanity. Lawyers from the suspiciously low-key US adviser picked up shovels to help build social housing amid much self-induced guffawing about “getting their hands dirty” and being involved in projects “from the ground up”.

According to Squire Sanders, Poland is the only major European nation to average less than one room per person – presumably because all their home-grown builders are now working in the UK instead.

“This is a very worthy cause, with a personal element that allows us to get involved and see the tangible results of our efforts,” quipped Squire Sanders Warsaw warlord Kevin Connor, drawing what readers may or may not interpret as a rather damning contrast between digging a large hole and his less rewarding day-job.
