I’m a corporate assistant at a City firm and myself and a number of colleagues are getting a bit irritated with one partner who keeps taking the same ‘popular’ assistants in his team on all the best work trips and corporate freebies. Not being one of the chosen few, should I hide my distaste for binge-drinking and football/golf and pretend I love it so I can become part of the gang?
I realise this isn’t so much a ‘career’ question… I guess I’m just wondering whether this goes on at all City firms or if my current employer is alone in the dark ages.
