I graduated from the University of Wales, Cardiff, with a 2:1. After the initial two years of practice in dispute resolution, I moved to the corporate and commercial practice, where i have been for the last four years. Over the last couple I was mainly involved in Islamic banking contracts and transactions, where Malaysia is the hub. I’m currently doing the UK Securities Investment & Institute’s Islamic finance qualification to gain a further foothold in that field.

I also passed the QLTT in 2005. I have indefinite leave to remain in the UK and will be moving here in a couple of months. What are my prospects of breaking into the UK legal scene with my qualifications and experience? What areas of practice should I concentrate on – and is my future bleak considering I’m not UK-qualified and I don’t have UK experience?
