As we approach another renewal season, it is interesting to look back over the past seven years and identify some of the issues that have affected the environment for solicitors’ professional negligence insurance.
The first thing to note is that law is a growing business. The number of solicitors has grown by 26% since 2000. There is an increase in diversity among lawyers too, at least at fee earner level, with the number of solicitors from minority ethnic groups increasing by 89% over that period and the number of women solicitors up by 48%.
