I cannot decide if I want Freshfields or Peter Bloxham to win. The amounts of money on both sides, and the interests of older versus younger partners, make the pinpoint of justice more difficult to locate. A friend of mine described the case as morally neutral, and that is indeed how it feels.

For those of you who may not have followed this saga closely, the basic issues (depending on which press report you read) essentially revolve around the decision of Freshfields’ senior management to replace their extremely lucrative partner annuity provisions with less generous arrangements.
