The Diary has idly noted the abundance of Davids in upper echelons of commercial law – with Messrs Childs, Cheyne, Morley, Harris, Frank, Gray and Gold all occupying senior managerial roles at their respective top 10 legal Goliaths.

But new research from recruitment group Bandenoch & Clark has produced hard evidence that Davids do indeed get ahead best in law, with the moniker emerging as the most popular name on its database of qualified solicitors.
