As a foreign national, I’m torn over whether to train and qualify in the UK or the US. Currently I am considering admission at the New York Bar instead of investing three lengthy years qualifying as a solicitor in England. I’d like to get readers’ perceptions as to whether leading corporate firms in New York would show any interest in me.

My background: I am a German national, have grown up in Germany and graduated with the IB. I studied English law and French law at a good English university (getting a 2:1) then read for an LLM in international business law at another good English uni (merit). I am currently back in Germany pursuing a German PhD in (international) corporate insolvency law.
