With the frenzy of hype surrounding associate salary rises in London and reports of bumper years for partners at UK firms, readers could be forgiven for forgetting about those poor, unfortunate partners at US firms in London. While their magic circle counterparts see their annual salaries top the £1m mark, those under the dollar are not quite so content.
One US partner over here was recently complaining to The Diary that he couldn’t afford to buy his dream house in the capital. Other first-time buyers will be even more alarmed, however, to learn that his partner drawings of £700,000 this year are no longer enough to get a foot on the property ladder.
