The Law Society of Scotland has named veteran private client lawyer John MacKinnon as its new president. MacKinnon, a partner at Fraserburgh-based firm Brown & McRae, takes over in the role from the incumbent Ruthven Gemmell. MacKinnon has sat on the society's decision-making council for 11 years. He will serve a one-year term as president. Meanwhile, Richard Henderson, formerly the Solicitor to the Scottish Executive, replaces MacKinnon as vice president.
