The battle against illegal file-sharing has never been far from the public eye in recent years, with film studios, record companies and media organisations constantly striving to clamp down on the unauthorised distribution of their products.
Their efforts have not been without reward. High-profile infringement actions have been brought, and won, against companies that provide file-sharing software (such as Napster, Grokster and Kazaa), and individual file-sharers have also been successfully targeted.
