M&A might be fashionable at the moment, with deal values soaring and Italian banks hopping into bed with one another like, well, Italian people, but deep down, most corporate lawyers in the City will admit that they originally wanted to be family or private client lawyers when they first started out. Certainly the client conundrums are more colourful.
