Drinker Biddle agrees merger deal with Chicago's Gardner Carton

East Coast firm Drinker Biddle & Reath has significantly beefed up its Chicago offering after agreeing a merger with 200-lawyer Chicago firm Gardner Carton & Douglas.

The deal, which goes live on 1 January, 2007, creates a 650-lawyer firm with a dozen offices and annual fee income approaching $350m (£185m), making the new practice one of the largest firms by revenue in Philadelphia.
