Law Society president Fiona Woolf has hit out at the Government over its controversial plans to overhaul the legal profession, branding the raft of proposed reforms in the Legal Services Bill “indefensible”.

Speaking at Chancery Lane’s annual conference today (13 October), Woolf said: “The prospect of the Legal Services Bill, as currently drafted, keeps me awake at night. The Lord Chancellor [Lord Falconer] promised a light-touch supervisor, not the duplicating, micro-managing regulator that has been drafted into the Bill.”
