The General Dental Council (GDC) is to appoint a law firm to its supplier panel and beef up its in-house legal team to prepare for an expected rise in complaints as the number of dental professionals it represents is set to double.
The GDC plans to appoint either one or two law firms to its panel of external suppliers and build a five-strong in-house legal team to deal with the rise in the number of reports about registrants’ unfitness to practise brought about by the increased number of dental professionals registered with the body.
