Lord Woolf has branded the legal costs generated in some long commercial trials as ‘offensive’ during a passionate defence of his civil justice reforms this week.
Speaking at the Legal Week Litigation Forum in London on 20 September, the former Lord Chief Justice said the reforms that bear his name had succeeded in fostering a new culture that encouraged people to settle many disputes quickly.
