The Parliamentary committee examining the draft Legal Services Bill has hit out at the Government in its official report, criticising plans to divert from the original recommendations of Sir David Clementi.

The committee will unveil its response on the closely-watched package of reforms today (25 July), following two months of consultation with the legal profession. But the report is dismissive of plans for Alternative Business Structures (ABS), which would allow firms to form practices with other professionals such as barristers and accountants, urging a more extensive consultation to avoid potential conflicts of interest.
