Legal Week‘s inaugural Strategic Technology Forum drew 130 IT professionals to the Ritz Carlton Penha Longa Hotel in Portugal. The programme, held over two and a half days, focused on relating the technology available to law firms to their business strategy.
Allen & Overy’s chief information officer (CIO) Dave Burwell chaired the event, addressing delegates with his views on what is currently driving the business strategy of law firms. He said: “Political and economic factors, from globalisation to regulatory changes; client pressures in the form of cost and procurement demands; technical and legal processes like the commoditisation of legal services and online data access and the growth of offshore legal services are all key challenges facing the legal sector that we, as IT professionals, have to consider”.
