What do clients want from their lawyers? According to one recent study, reported in Current Trends in the Legal Services Market (Wheeler Associates), it is quality of advice all the way.

In answer to the question ‘what are the most important factors to you when assessing the ongoing service you receive?’ 62% mentioned quality of work, way above value for money (40%), responsiveness (40%), proactive advice (22%), understanding my business (8%) or pragmatism (6%). Another recent survey obtained similar results: 54% of the clients interviewed identified expected quality of work as the key factor in selecting a new adviser; only 15% named knowledge of the industry as the main selling point, while just 6% plumped for price.
