Sullivan, Wachtell lead on $25bn merger

Elite New York firms Sullivan & Cromwell and Wachtell Lipton Rosen & Katz have scooped the lead roles on the latest major banking merger in the US.

The firms are advising on Wachovia’s $25.5bn (£13.7bn) acquisition of mortgage lender Golden West Financial in what is the biggest M&A deal in the financial services sector so far this year.
