Manchester is home to a range of differently sized law firms – ranging from small, specialist practices to large commercial heavyweights – providing a great deal of choice for newcomers to the city’s legal market. In particular, trainee solicitors looking to specialise in specific niche areas may find that Manchester is the only city other than London where specialist firms are able to offer them work in busy departments.
During the past two years as a trainee at Manchester firm Pannone & Partners, I have dealt with a variety of work ranging from business crime to intellectual property (IP). I have learned that every department can be quite different, with each requiring their own skills and approach.
