The Acer TravelMate 4260 is one of the first business laptops to feature built-in 3G, in partnership with Vodafone, for high-speed wireless internet access. The laptop also features an Intel dual core processor to run multiple applications simultaneously, for users who need to write a report while burning a DVD, and improved power efficiency.

The laptop will default to slower but widespread GPRS networks where 3G is unavailable, and Acer claims it will be upgradeable to the faster HSDPA wireless standard already being piloted by major operators. It comes with a 15.4-inch widescreen or 15-inch standard display, Wi-Fi, dedicated nVidia graphics for multimedia tasks, a 5-in-1 memory card reader and a dual-layer DVD burner. The system, fitted with up to 2GB memory and a 120GB hard drive, is scheduled to hit European shelves in the next couple of months.
