Herbert Smith has bagged a lucrative role advising London & Continental Railways (LCR), the company building the £5.2bn Channel Tunnel rail link, which the Government announced last week (1 March) it was to auction.
Corporate partner Patrick Mitchell is leading the team advising LCR, which will now consider bids from potential acquirers. In a statement, the Transport Secretary Alistair Darling said: “Interested parties should put their propositions to [the Department for Transport] as well as to the LCR shareholders, so that we can establish how overall best value for the taxpayer can be achieved.”
