Sports law boutique Couchman Harrington has landed one of its biggest-ever instructions after advising Indian sports media agency Nimbus Communications on its $612m (£351m) acquisition of broadcast rights to Indian international cricket matches from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
The deal saw Mumbai-based Nimbus fend off bids from broadcasting giants including ESPN and Sony Entertainment Television and covers all international cricket played in India – the world’s largest television market for cricket – until 2010.
