New York’s major firms continue to post robust financial results, with White & Case becoming the sixth US firm to break the $1bn (£574m) income mark, and Paul Weiss Rifkind Wharton & Garrison unveiling double-digit growth in revenue and profits per equity partner (PEP).

White & Case saw 2005 turnover reach $1.05bn (£601m), up from $953m (£574m) in 2004. The firm follows US heavyweights Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom, Baker & McKenzie, Latham & Watkins, Jones Day and Sidley Austin in breaking the billion-dollar barrier in recent years.
