The Government is set to push forward with a package of controversial reforms to the ailing £2bn legal aid system after last week unveiling the key recommendations of a major review of the regime in England and Wales.
Under the new proposals, lawyers will bid in competitive tenders to win contracts to supply all the legal aid advice in a specific region for a fixed term of up to two years.
