Mayer Brown Rowe & Maw and strategic ally Tonucci have set their sights on Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) by drawing up plans to open joint venture offices in the region. However, Tonucci’s anticipated merger with a Milanese IP firm has been delayed.

Mayer Brown and Tonucci, which cemented a formal alliance in December, are targeting three of the newest members of the European Union – the Czech Republic, Hungary and Poland – as part of a client-led move into the CEE region. The two firms are also understood to be looking into similar joint venture offices in China and Russia. Mayer Brown already offers a consultancy service in Beijing and Shanghai, but has no lawyers permanently based in either city.
