Victory is likely to have been especially sweet for Linklaters, the International Firm of the Year, given the brickbats that were hurled at it four years ago when its management team set about re-shaping the practice with a zeal that prompted many to predict an early bath. At the same time as Linklaters’ management was rolling up its sleeves up, SJ Berwin was suffering a hangover from the tech crash. The extent of its recovery is recognised by its crowning as UK Firm of the Year, just ahead of Berwin Leighton Paisner (BLP).
