Simmons & Simmons’ corporate team is celebrating after securing a surprise lead role on Telefonica’s £17.7bn bid for UK telecoms rival O2 – the firm’s largest-ever European transaction.
The top 20 UK firm is working opposite Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer on the deal, which was announced on Monday (31 October). The acquisition is one of the largest-ever corporate deals in the telecoms sector and also the largest ever all-cash bid for a UK target.
