It was a sad day for One Essex Court in August this year when Robert Ralphs, the chambers’ joint senior clerk, retired from the role that he had held for 30 years.
Since he joined One Essex Court in 1975, Ralphs had been clerk to many of the set’s great names, including Lord Grabiner QC, the current head of chambers.
