Simmons bags lead on £18bn telecoms merger

Simmons & Simmons has secured a surprise lead role on Telefonica’s £17.7bn bid for UK telecoms rival O2, marking the firm’s largest-ever European transaction.

The top 20 UK firm is working opposite Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer on the deal, which was announced today (31 October) and is one of the largest-ever corporate deals in the telecoms sector.
