The Law Society today (21 October) rolled out the next stage in its controversial reforms programme for legal education, with Chancery Lane bidding to regain the backing of the profession with a watered down package.

Under the latest proposals, which have been agreed by both the Training Framework Review Group (TFRG) and the society’s standards board, only students with prior qualifications or hands-on experience will be able to win exemption from completing the Legal Practice Course (LPC).
