London’s largest law firms are set to financially back plans by the City of London Law Society (CLLS) after this month’s announcement that the body is pushing to take on a mainstream ‘trade union’ role.

As Legal Week went to press, the entire magic circle was set to agree to ‘corporate’ firm-wide membership of the CLLS, in a move that is expected to hand the body a beefed-up mandate and increased funding to lobby for commercial firms.
