Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom is to pay all its US associates Wall Street salaries, which will see senior lawyers receive up to a $12,000 (£6,800) pay hike, in a move that will be watched closely by major US rivals in the regions.
The New York-based giant has unified its salaries across the country with Skadden opting to roll out its high-end Manhattan salaries, which it also pays in Boston and its West Coast practice, to its US regional offices in Chicago, Wilmington, Houston and Washington DC.
