Commercial lawyers have shrugged off the threat that age discrimination legislation poses to their partnerships, claiming it will have minimal impact on their firms, despite warnings from employment specialists to the contrary.

The latest EJ Legal/ Legal Week Big Question survey found that 74% of respondents think laws against age discrimination, due to come into effect in October 2006, will have a ‘minor impact’ on the way leading UK firms operate their partnerships, with 12% expecting them to have ‘no impact’. Only 14% forecast a ‘major impact’.
