Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer and Gleiss Lutz have scored lead roles on Spohn Cement’s E6.5bn (£3.6bn) takeover bid for HeidelbergCement, Germany’s largest cement maker.

The deal is the second multi-billion euro transaction Freshfields has secured in less than a month in its core German market, following its role advising UniCredito on its E15bn (£10bn) bid for HypoVereinsbank (HVB).
