It is a telling measure of the current mood in commercial practice that property lawyers are looking at the latest round of partner promotions as something of a result.

Never mind that – as Legal Week’s recent breakdown of the partnership promotions at the UK’s top 25 law firms shows – a fair number of major firms got through the annual promotions round without making up a single partner in property.
