A visitor to the offices of law firms in the US and in the UK would be struck by a stark contrast. Although the US has a reputation of being in love with high-tech gadgetry, US lawyers are surprisingly conservative when it comes to adopting the latest technologies. By contrast, the UK law office is often replete with the latest and most sophisticated equipment and software.
There are, however, valuable lessons to be learned from the the US experience when it comes to litigation support applications. Key aspects of the US legal system create an environment which encourages development of advanced technologies. And the canny UK lawyer can capitalise on this experience and use it to benefit their practice.
