Italian leader Chiomenti has teamed up with US ally Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom to lead on perhaps the largest Italian equity offering so far this year, Fin-invest Finanziaria d’Investimento’s €2.1bn (£1.4bn) share offering in TV Broadcaster Mediaset.

The deal, which closed on 17 April, saw the sale of 197 million shares in a block trade through an accelerated book-building process, to JP Morgan Securities for placement to institutional investors. Fininvest retains a 34% share in Mediaset. Chiomenti Rome-based capital markets partner Enrico Gioriano and Skadden’s London-based capital markets partner James Healy led on the transaction.
