Thanks to Alastair Campbell and his on-going wrangle with the BBC, mobile e-mail devices are back in the media. Depending on our view of the man himself, we are either entertained or embarrassed about his inability to use his BlackBerry – and the very impolite message that ended up in its subject’s hands.

But think how much worse it would have been had Campbell been sending a sensitive or confidential document from his BlackBerry and managed to send that to the wrong person instead. That would suddenly cease to be an embarrassment and instead would become a major security breach.
