Ashurst acted for Gala Group on the £1.025bn refinancing and increase of facilities from the gambling giant’s 2003 buy-out by Cinven and Candover. Slaughter and May advised Standard Chartered Bank on its issue of €750m (£519m) fixed and floating rate step-up notes due in 2017 and $500m (£262m) floating rate notes due in 2015 under the bank’s debt issuance programme. Corporate finance partner Nilufer von Bismarck led the Slaughters team, while Linklaters capital markets partner Jane Brown, acted for joint lead manager JP Morgan Securities.
