When I was first invited to take a look at the new products being launched at or around the Legal IT Show 2005, the prospect seemed quite titillating. An opportunity to have a nose around exciting new developments and a chance to get an early look at what was happening in 2005 was too good to be true.

But when I saw the information that marketing departments across the country had provided, my initial excitement dwindled and eventually died. Visions of government announcements intended to make an old idea seem new – trying to get yet more mileage out of an old idea – swam before my eyes.
