Italian stalwart Pavia & Ansaldo is set to split in two following a row over international strategy, Legal Week can reveal, with managing partner Marcello Agnoli quitting with a team of up to 70 lawyers to launch a new firm.

The new practice, Agnoli Bernardi & Associati, will be headed by two of Pavia’s most senior partners – managing partner Agnoli and management committee member Maurizio Bernardi. The Milan duo will be joined by Rome partners, Paolo Berruti and Francesca Lodigiani, and Padua partner Giorgio Spanio.
