The Gambling Bill, introduced by the Government to the Commons on 18 October, modernises gambling laws and proposes a uniform regulatory system for all gambling in the UK, except for the Lottery and spread betting.
A new body called the Gambling Commission will regulate and police all forms of commercial gambling and replace the current Gaming Board. The commission will issue operating licences to gambling opera-tors and personal licences to individuals.
