America’s plaintiff bar is gearing up for a fresh assault on its practices, with the recently re-elected Republican administration committing itself to tough reforms of the controversial US regime for class action litigation. US litigators are claiming that tort reform will be a key issue following the win earlier this month by George W Bush.

Bush notably pledged to make tort reform a central part of his second term, including the issue of helping small businesses, citing the need to “reduce the lawsuit burden on the economy”.
