SJ Berwin has closed its first ever deal for Weil Gotshal & Manges trophy client Hicks Muse Tate & Furst – bagging a role with one of the world’s most coveted buy-out houses.

The top 50 UK firm advised Hicks Muse on the £101m acquisition of a majority stake in celebrity shoe brand Jimmy Choo, with corporate partner Steve Davis leading the team. The highly symbolic instruction is a major coup for SJ Berwin, which first won Hicks Muse as a new client this July, advising on the formation of a key European fund, although this is the first transaction it has advised the client on.
