The former general counsel of Qwest Communications, Drake Tempest, is still battling an attempt by federal authorities to force him to testify against his former company, despite a $250m (£136.6m) settlement agreed last month.

The settlement, agreed with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on 21 October, sees the telecoms company pay a $250m (£136.6m) fine and also agree to a court order not to violate any further securities laws.
